DJ Insomnia

Austin Ferreira

Hi! My name is Austin AKA DJ Insomnia, thanks for stopping by!

Entertaining has been part of my life since high school, back in 2010, when I started DJing house parties for me and my friends. I didn’t plan on it, I just always ended up behind the speakers because I had a knack for reading the room and getting everyone up and dancing. Somewhere along the way, “the guy with the aux cord” became “the DJ.”

My real start came at my own high school prom, when I worked up the nerve to talk to the DJ running the event, George, from Events Unlimited Entertainment in Reno. I gave him my number, and later that year he brought me on to help at one of his gigs. That turned into years of him showing me the business inside and out. How to read a crowd, build a set, and how to handle everything a live event, like a wedding, can throw at you. I owe a lot of my foundation to him.

Since then, I’ve DJ’d everything from weddings to bars and clubs, line dancing nights to holiday parties. I love the variety, and it’s made me versatile behind the booth. No two crowds are the same, and I’ve learned how to quickly adapt to whatever the crowd is moving to!

What keeps me doing this, more than anything, is that moment when I drop a song someone didn’t even know they wanted to hear, and the whole room erupts. Making people dance and watching them genuinely have a good time is a privilege that I am truly grateful for!
